It has been maybe a year or so since I was last here and this place is still the same. Workers have changed but Venus, the owner has really made sure she trained her staff very well. We were greeted right away and everyone was very friendly as always. We got the Tom Yum and Spicy Miso soup bases, and they are still as delicious as we remembered. What has changed is now, we scan a QR code and order through there. Before we would have to flag down our server to get another round of meats. Our server was great and when she saw we were low on broth, she came out and refilled it, with the actual broth. It pays to be friendly with your server. Thank you so much for that. I also always leave room for my green tea ice cream. Thank you so much for a great dinner with great laughs. Always have the best customer service from everyone here.
Woooow this is one of the best hotpot deals you'll get in SF. $36 (after tip) for non-AYCE option is crazy good. Portions are huge and high quality. Staff are amazing on top of all that. Highly recommend :-) My close friend and I walked in on a weekend and were seated within 10 mins. The shop is small, but bustling with activity. Bar seating is equipped with individual hotpot stoves, with enough counter space to hold all the goods :P PRIME BEEF: YALL. We both didn't realize that this is TWO plates stacked. LOL. We were already commenting on the meat quality (A+) and then there was MORE. Color me impressed. Hefty amount of veggies, too TOMATO BASE: Rich, tangy, and flavorful-- anything dipped was immediately infused with tomato. Everything I want in a soup base. Imagine my surprise when we were hit by their complimentary ice cream (matcha or vanilla) ;_; Super thoughtful touch to end the meal. Must-try in inner Richmond/Presidio.
Came here several weeks ago for a friend's bday. The portions are Huge and you can't share so come hungry. As far as the food and soup, it was 3.75/5 for me but our waitress and free ice cream at the end bumped it up to 4. The price is reasonable especially in SF.
YUM! Came here on a Saturday night with a reservation, and to our surprise, it wasn't packed. We were seated quickly and placed our order using a QR code, which was super convenient and efficient. We chose the AYCE option and started with the gyoza and edamame as appetizers. The gyoza was so delicious--crispy and packed with flavor--that we ended up ordering multiple rounds! For the broth, we went with the Tom Yum, and it was absolutely a highlight--we'd definitely get it again. I really appreciated the simplicity of ordering through the app; it saved us from waiting for someone to take our order. The meat quality was some of the best we've had in SF for hot pot, which was a huge plus. As for sauces, they offer peanut sauce, ponzu, and a cilantro green sauce, and that green sauce was AMAZING. I can't wait to come back!
Nothing can beat a hot pot in a cold day. So satisfying with their AYCE premium beef options. I love their ponzu dipping sauce. Got the sauce refilled a couple times actually.
Amazing quality meats. Melt in your mouth cuts. We did the basic set and absolutely loved the waygu and pork belly. The waygu was some of the best I've had for AYCE in the area! Also enjoyed the sukiyaki broth and side sauces. The sides and sauces options are limited but sufficent, so main focus here really is the meat. And the premium price shows it at $40.99. Appetizers included we had were the fried tofu and karage. Service was quick as you order through your phone. Space was clean and well air conditioned. Will definitely be back!
Long over due review: Had to find a team dinner spot asap and the people were craving hot pot. Made an easy reservation here for an early Thursday night dinner and got seated early (I beat my party here). They were super accommodating and didn't sweat at all when other guests came in later. Unlike a lot of hot pot spots I've been to, they refilled our broth based on the soup we ordered (too many places I go to just add some water or miso). They had a lot of great items and most people in our group were hot pot first timers. Highly recommend for a team dinner!
I'd been seeing this spot all over instagram and decided to reserve the private dining/karaoke room for my birthday when I found out that was an option. The food here is really good, you can tell the meat was high quality and the broth selection is great! I loved the sukiyaki, it wasn't too sweet and had a great savory balance. The spicy miso kind of reminded me of a spicy instant ramen broth, but in the best way possible. I didn't try the tom yum, but my friends really enjoyed it. For those interested in the private room, keep reading. The room can fit up to 40 people, and there is a 20 person minimum to book, along with a $200 deposit at the time of booking. Booking was really easy. I called the restaurant, and they send you a text with all the fine print and pricing details. You can pay the deposit either in person at the restaurant or via Zelle. Don't worry, we made sure the deposit was accounted for in our final bill the day of. You have to spend a minimum of $800 worth of food and drink in order to reserve the room, which is pretty easy because everything is priced per person. For all you can eat and all you can drink, it starts at $57 per person before tax and tip for the basic wagyu menu. Taxes and a 20% gratuity are included in your bill at the end, so no need for additional tipping. They also charge $5 per person as a "banquet fee" instead of one big "room rental" charge. I'm not sure which I prefer, to be honest. The all you can eat pricing is good for 90 minutes and anything ordered past the 90 minute mark will become an additional charge. When we came for our 5:45pm reservation, the restaurant wasn't super crowded and there was no reservation after us, so they let us wait until everyone arrived (we had a bunch of people come late) before they took our order. The 90 minute timer does not begin until all the food arrives at your table. They came for last call for food orders right before the 90 minute mark, but let us stay in the room and continue karaoking until close at no additional charge. Each table gets its own iPad to order meats/veggies/noodles which makes things super easy with a large group. All you can drink pricing for alcohol only includes beer and sake. Cocktails are an additional charge. Karaoke is controlled by a tablet in the back of the room. It's connected to youtube so you can pull up any song you'd like without having to flip through a catalog of songs. However, we found the system to be kind of slow and laggy, and we were unable to queue up songs to play back to back so after you sing one song you have to type in another. They also did not have youtube premium or ad block so there were ads before each song. For how much money you're spending here, I feel like they could easily pay the $3 a month for a youtube premium subscription. Overall, this was a really fun spot to host a party! The food was great and I would probably come back to dine in the normal dining room the next time I am craving hot pot.
Made a reservation here a few times already and was quick and simple. Got our table fairly quickly each time. This place has really good quality meat offering a nice A5 selection as well. Go to shabu if you want to treat yourself to something on the nicer end! AYCE is priced at 41.99 which isn't bad for the quality you get. Broths are extremely flavorful. Go to broths are spicy miso, or tonkotsu. The mala is also really good as well. It's more on the flavorful side rather than the spicy numbingness though. They have all your typical shabu veggies as well and everything is conveniently ordered through an iPad. Free ice cream (green tea or vanilla) also offered after your meal as well! Service here is phenomenal. I've came here at least 5 times now, two of which we had a reservation for ~20 people for the karaoke room upstairs and they get you set up quickly. Meat and drinks come out super quick and they're pretty attentive with taking empty trays away. We'll put in an order of like 15 trays of meat and it'll be out in ~10 mins. The karaoke room is super nice since it has 4 long tables inside and fits 40 people roughly if I recall. Selection of songs on the machine is super updated as well. Only had great experiences each time here overall. Top spot I recommend when people ask what's a good shabu spot.
